Our Arizona Trip

We just got back from a long vacation to Arizona. We got the chance to spend some time with family and it was nice. We were able to be involved with Amy's (Doug's sister) wedding. It was a beautiful day after a cold and rainy weekend. Congratulations to Amy and Zach for a beautiful day.

Cameron really enjoyed being apart of his aunt's wedding and he was so very excited to also see his kindergarten teacher that he had in Arizona. Cameron had a lot of school work to do while we were on vacation, because he was missing so much school, and he got it all done. He was so proud.

While on vacation we had a friend that was watching our house and our dogs and it was such a relief to have someone we trusted looking after our babies. We knew they were in good hands. I am looking forward to the next time we get to see our family, I hope that it is sooner rather than later.

We have been in Ohio for about a month now and we are really enjoying it. We feel like we are at home and that is such a good thing because we were not sure how long it would take to make it all feel good. I am looking forward to continuing to build our life here.

Freezing Rain 2/1/11

Today was a no school day for Cameron and a work from home day for Doug. We had freezing rain that made it near impossible to leave the house at all, at least it was not safe to leave the house. We just hung out at home but I tell you we need to go to the grocery store for sure. Hopefully we can do that tomorrow.

It has been real challenging out here for me and for Cameron, however Doug seems to be adjusting OK. Cameron is having a few issues with listening both at home and at school. I think we are starting to get there with working closely with his teacher and the school. I am going to be fine, I just need to get my business started. I am finding it hard to get out of the house to meet people and that is really putting a strain on this social butterfly. I have been in constant contact with my lia sophia girls out here and I know that things will be good. I am so excited to watch my business grow as I utilize all my contacts and my help out here.

Just a little note to let everyone know that everything out here is going well and we are going to be great. We have only been here for a few weeks and so there is still some adjustment as we continue our time here. One of Doug's co-workers would like to utilize my math skills to help tutor his daughter, I am really looking forward to that.

Thank you for all your support as our friends family.

Settling in

We have been at our new house for about two weeks now and we are starting to get settled in. We have several boxes still to unpack before this really looks like our home. It has been tough for me with Doug going to work and Cameron going to school. I need to get out and meet people.

I am starting to figure my way around and I am looking forward to the boost my lia sophia business will have. If you know anyone in and around the Columbus area, they can help me out and host a show for me to earn free jewelry. I am very excited for all the new opportunities, but I do miss Arizona.

Cameron is really enjoying his new school. He started on Monday and he is still learning where he fits in. We had some trouble today but we kind of expected that from him. His sleeping schedule is completely off and it is hard to get his back on it.

Doug is enjoying his new work as well. He likes his co-workers and he is seeming to fit in well. He already has a potential tutoring job for me with one of the children of a co-worker. I am happy to see that everyone is beginning to settle in to their routines, now I have to find mine.

First Week in our house

Well our stuff came on Monday and so now we have a ton of boxes that we have to go through and unpack. We are settling into our new home nicely, and we are figuring out our new surroundings. Cameron will be registered for school this week and hopefully he will start school on Monday. I am ready for him to have a little bit of structure.
Cameron is really enjoying his new house because he has two rooms. He is not completely understanding why we can't help him with his legos because we are unpacking boxes and we have a lot of people coming over to fix things and help set up stuff. He will settle in, I am sure, it is just going to take a little bit of time. Cameron really is enjoying the snow, even though we have not had any falling yet. I think we are suppose to get some snow in the next few days. I look forward to watching Cameron's reaction.
As for Tyler and Lexus, they are adjusting well too. They seem to like the house but they have been locked in their cages a lot because we have had people over and we are trying to re-potty train them. They have to learn all about the new house.
Doug seemed to enjoy his new office today, he is getting use to a new schedule and working closer with some of his co-workers that he only knew by phone. He really likes the commute as well, it has been cut in half compared to his commute in Phoenix. This is going to be a great thing for us out here but we know that it will be hard soon when we can't see our family whenever we want. We really have held on to each other and we are really enjoying this ride.
Thank you to all our friends and family for your prayer and support.

Our new home

We made it last night around 8:30pm eastern time. We are now just waiting for our furniture to meet us here, I know it will be soon. We are expecting them on Monday. We are figuring out our new house and we just met the landlord today. We finally have internet and tv and phone. I am very ready to get the office set up and everything. It is a little weird being here with no furniture.

Cameron's first real experience with snow has been so funny to watch. He loves jumping in it and he was so excited to do a snow angel. We let him do that and he started to lay down but realized how cold it was and got up. It was the greatest thing to watch how he sees snow.

Yesterday we drove up to our house from Nashville, TN. We decided to stop in Bowling Green, KY to go to the National Corvette Museum. Both of the boys were loving all the cars, they were so excited to see some of the rare ones. Only Doug really understood about the rare 1983 corvette. I am so excited about this new adventure. We made it with out any problems, until Kentucky. We were just outside of Louisville and I started to have trouble with my ABS, now we have to get that looked at. We made it all safely and we are all in good spirits. I am looking forward to being able to settle in and get going with my lia sophia business.

We will continue to update you all as we get settled in to our new city and new home.

We are moving

Sorry I have not been on to update this for everyone. We have been very busy getting ready for our move. On Jan. 6th, I left to go to Chicago for 5 days. It was some great time with my lia sophia friends and family. While I was gone, the packing company came to pack up the house. Doug said it was crazy but things went fairly well. It was very busy but they got the whole house packed.
Cameron's last day of school was on the 7th and everyone was sad. Cameron was the only one that was ok with it. His teacher was sad but we know we will see her again and we thank you Mrs. Woodbury for everything you did to help Cameron with his kindergarten adjustments.
I got back on Monday to a completely packed house and a tired husband. He did amazing with getting all our stuff ready. On Tuesday, the truck came and loaded our house up and we left that night. It was a long drive, since we didn't leave until 8:30pm. We stopped in Holbrook, AZ.
Wednesday morning we took off again for the longest day of our drive, over 12 hours. We headed for our destination of Oklahoma City, OK. On the way we drove through New Mexico, Texas and Oklahoma, on top of leaving Arizona. We did 4 states in one day and that was exhausting. Cameron and the dogs were great during our drive. For dinner we decided to stop in Amarillo at The Big Texan. I have a great picture of Cameron and his Dad in front of the big bull.
This morning we headed out for our 2nd longest driving day, 10 hours, to finish up in Nashville, TN. We had a great time going through the rest of Oklahoma, Arkansas and Tennessee. We had a good time and everyone is still getting a long. That is always good.
Tomorrow our plan is to end up in our new house in Columbus, OH. We are going to make a stop in Bowling Green, KY to go to the corvette museum, for Doug. We are happy about this move and we are having a great time on our road trip. We figured out there is a strain of hotels that we will not stay in again. Our next trip will always be a splurge and we will stay at the Hilton hotels, not the Choice hotels. We look forward to updating you all again soon with how our move in goes.
